Active Ingredients: A professional needs to know the active ingredients in a product to be fully aware of what it is going to do, and how it will do it.

pH: This number refers to the level of acidity or alkalinity of a product. Acidic range is between 0 and 6.9, while the alkalinity range is between 7.1 and 14. (7 refers to ‘neutral’, or neither acidic nor alkaline). The normal range of the skin is between 4.4 and 5.6. The pH of a product will correlate to the skin’s pH in defining the skin’s reaction to the product. Unless otherwise noted, pH is neutral in skin care products.

Additional Ingredients: These ingredients are in the product to affect formulation stability, slip, preservation, and to support the product care. These products usually do not affect the purpose of the product’s use on the skin, but are important to the overall formulation.

Directions: Apply Step (1) pad either a.m. or p.m. over entire face (avoid the eye and lip areas). Leave on 10 minutes. NOTE: do not rinse. Proceed with Step 2 pad, which is the neutralizer and NOTE: do not rinse. You may now continue with your daily skin care regimen suggested by your skin care specialist.

Salicylic Acid 2% - Has keratolytic activity. Increases cell turnover. It is both lipid (fat) and oil soluble, thus it can penetrate through the sebum in the follicle. It helps to dissolve the top layer of corneum cells, improves the look and feel of the skin, and has antiseptic properties. Used daily it assists in reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Lactic Acid – A multipurpose ingredient used as an exfoliant and moisturizer and acts as a preservative. It is a component of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor that has the ability to increase the water-holding capacity of the corneum layer.

Glycolic Acid – Reduces corneocyte cohesion and corneum layer thickening where excess dead skin cell buildup can be associated with many common skin problems. It acts by dissolving the intercellular cement responsible for abnormal keratinization. It improves the skin hydration by enhanced moisture uptake as well as increased binding of water to the stratum corneum (top layer of skin).

Malic Acid – Has keratolytic activity.

Witch Hazel Extract – Acts as an astringent for toning and cleansing.

Sodium Bicarbonate – Serves as a neutralizer.

Additional Ingredients: SD alcohol, allantoin, chamomile, comfrey root extract, and vegetable glycerin.

Caution in use of this product: If irritation or redness develops, discontinue use and consult with physician. If skin appears to be drying, decrease usage to 2-3 times weekly.

Product Benefits: Available in two strengths. This unique combination of glycolic acid and salicylic acid will enhance the turnover of cells in the epidermis resulting in the gentle exfoliation of dead skin. The skin will feel smoother due to the exposure of younger, healthier skin cells and will develop a more even skin tone. Collagen and elastin will proliferate in the dermal layer, resulting in the refinement of fine lines. Re-hydration is also a benefit of the use of this product.

Directions: Cleanse face thoroughly with Enzymatic cleanser. Degrease skin with grapefruit-kiwi toner until all traces of residue have been removed.

Proceed by pouring approximately 1 tablespoon of either 15% or 30%, according to physician or aesthetician choice and apply to skin using either a fan brush, or 4 x 4 gauze in the following order.

NOTE: If you are applying to other areas of the body such as legs, feet, or hands, apply there first, then proceed with the face and neck in steps listed above.

Apply evenly. Procedure can be as little as one minute and up to 10 minutes according to level of ERYTHEMA (where skin is very pink and blushed).

NOTE: For a first time treatment, even though patient is not showing erythema, limit procedure to a five minute program. The client could show a delayed reaction.

Remove with cool cotton pads beginning at the eye area first. Be sure to remove all acid. Proceed with Astaxanthin and Moisturizing Protectant SPF 30.

Astaxanthin: An anti-inflammatory antioxidant, derived from the carotenoid family. Studies show that it has stronger antioxidant activity (10 times higher than beta-carotene), and can be more than 100 times more effective as antioxidant than Vitamin E. The highest percentage of astaxanthin appears to come from the micro-algae (Haematococcus pluvialis) found in Hawaiian waters.

NOTE: Astaxanthin comes in a concentrated oil form and costs approximately $1,800 per pound, similar to Vitamin K. High percentages of astaxanthin can be found in foods such as salmon or shrimp. NOTE: In Paris France, July 2, 2002, results of a random double-blind trial suggests palmitoyl pentapeptide improves the appearance of photo-damaged facial skin. Dr. Larry Robinson, with Procter & Gamble, Ohio, US, presented the findings at the Congress of Dermatology. Self-assessment data indicated that the peptide formula showed improvements in the appearance of age spots, circles under the eyes, and skin firmness. Overall, the results suggest that palmitoyl pentapeptide reduces the appearance of photo-aged skin both by standardized measures and self-assessment.

Dex-Panthenol (vitamin B) – Penetrates quickly and effectively into the skin, provides assistance in tissue repair. It also works as an anti-inflammatory and minimizes sun damage.

Pineapple and Papain– Enzymes that have the ability to dissolve keratin naturally and gently.

Fruit Acid Blend - (lactic, malic and tartaric=10%) The combination of these acids will assist in reduction of corneocyte cohesion and corneum layer thickening where there is a buildup of dead skin cells. They also improve skin hydration by enhanced moisture uptake as well as increased binding of water to the stratum corneum. Assist in smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Ginseng Extract – Increases circulation, speeds up wound healing, moisturizes, softens and heals.

Rosehip Extract – Assists in tissue regeneration and calming the skin.

Arnica Extract – Has properties associated with antiseptic, astringent, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, circulation stimulating, and healing.

Product Benefits: This special active crème based masque retexturizes, smoothes, moisturizes, hydrates, and tightens the surface of the skin. The skin is clarified and conditioned, and redness and irritation are reduced.

Directions: Gentle enough to be used two to three times a week. Apply a thin layer of mask onto cleansed skin. Allow to dry and leave on skin approximately 15-20 minutes. Remove with warm tepid water with sponges or 4x4 moistened soft gauze. Proceed with skin care regimen. Avoid eye area.
